MANILA, Philippines — Noel Kampton fired 24 points to deliver La Salle’s first win with a 25-19, 25-23, 25-19 sweep of Adamson in the UAAP Season 87 men’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

After being limited to nine points in their straight-set loss to the five-peat-seeking National University, Kampton bounced back with 22 kills, one block, and an ace and had a steady floor defense with eight receptions and seven digs to beat the winless Falcons in just an hour and 22 minutes.

Kampton, graduating this year, admitted he suffered sleepless nights after falling to NU.

“Hindi ako nakatulog nung after ng first game namin. Hindi ko tinitignan ‘yung score ko, tinitignan ko yung results ng game. Na-straight set kami ng defending champions so napaisip din kami na malayo pa kami,” said Kampton.

Kampton was backstopped by Yoyong Mendoza, who poured in 13 points all from attacks. MJ Fortuna also scored 10 points as the Green Spikers continued to miss Vince Maglinao due to an undisclosed injury.

“Yun yung naging basis namin, yung first game. Kung ano ‘yung kulang na hindi namin nagawa during the first game, yun ang tinrabaho namin. I think even the teams noticed that so somehow nag-agree lang kaming lahat na kailangan namin bumawi,” said La Salle coach Jose Roque after surviving 25 errors.
